Sophie
shot into the Spotlight in 1992, with her debut album
'Tongues and Tails' . Her single
'Damn I wish I was your lover' ,
went top 5 in the US and the album earned her a Grammy
nomination. Her second album Whaler, produced the single 'As I lay me Down' which holds the records for longest running single
on the Billboard Charts (67 weeks). Following her
departure form Sony in 2001, Sophie re-released her
third album 'Timbre' on her own label,
Trumpet Swan Records.
'Wilderness',
Sophie's fourth album was released in the US in
2004. The album has been described as 'her
most universal to date, combining pop with rock,
jazz and blues'. Sophie spent most of 2004 in the
US gigging, including touring withThe
Corrs and Chris Isaak.
‘Wilderness' was released in Ireland
on April 4th 2005 on Sophie's own label in conjunction with the release of ‘Wilderness', ‘Beautiful Girl' taken from the
album, was released on March 21st 2005.
MMI was responsible for organizing Sophie's
debut Irish gigs in Ireland in March 2005. Gigs
in Cork and Dublin were packed to capacity, prompting
fans to ask for Sophie's prompt
return to Ireland.
